Monica Ann Sass, JD

Monica Ann Sass, JD | Administrative Specialist | City of Toledo Law Department

In the sixth grade, Ms. Sass participated in a Harry Potter-themed mock criminal trial in which she served as the head defense attorney. During the trial, she came alive and ultimately decided that with the skill set and gifts that she had, going to law school would be the best way to do that. Ms. Sass earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, magna cum laude, from the University of Toledo in 2015 followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Toledo College of Law in 2018. Today, she is licensed to practice law by the Ohio State Bar and earned a professional research certification via LexisNexis.

Since 2019, Ms. Sass has excelled as an administrative specialist II for the City of Toledo Department of Law, in which she acts in the position of an office manager and engages in research and legal writing with their attorneys. Prior, between 2016 and 2019, she gained experience as an instructor of law and leadership, an intern for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth District and an intern for the City of Toledo Department of Law.

To remain abreast of her field, Ms. Sass holds membership with the Public Interest Law Association, Women Law Student Association, Toledo Women’s Bar Association, Beta Rho International English Honor Society and Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society. Likewise, she has been secretary of the Women’s Law Student Association and a representative of the Toledo Bar Association, and attributes her success to the work ethic her parents instilled in her, as well as her own drive to go after her dreams. In five years’ time, Ms. Sass hopes to be working as a full-fledged attorney.
